TRANSIENT FIELD

TRANSIENT FIELD is an immersive installation that explores the intersection of ritual and algorithmic composition. Inspired by traditional drumming practices, the work utilises generative rhythmic algorithms to mirror the way imperceptible, moment-to-moment shifts in rhythm can trigger large-scale structural transformations. Through the use of Euclidean rhythms, the piece establishes an internal logic that evolves organically over time.

Designed for a quadrophonic speaker array, the work places the audience directly at the centre of the sound field. This spatialisation allows viewers to physically experience the rhythmic structure and the complex, underlying logic of the composition. Throughout the performance, one collaborator directs the generated sound while the other modulates the parameters of the algorithmic system in real-time. By bridging the gap between auditory experience and physical presence, the work functions as a sculptural system, effectively blurring the lines between sonic practice and static form.
