TRANSIENT FIELD

TRANSIENT FIELD is an immersive live performance that explores the intersections of ritual, architecture, and algorithmic composition. Inspired by generative rhythm and traditional drumming practices, the work explores how microscopic shifts in rhythm can trigger large-scale structural transformations. Through Euclidean rhythms, the piece establishes a structural logic which evolves over time - due both to structures inherent in the generative rhythms and from improvisational decisions made by snake_case during performance.

Designed for a quadrophonic speaker array, the work places the audience in the centre of the sound field. This spatialisation (and treating each speaker as its own 'drum') allows participants to directly experience a real-time composition physically - both in space and time. During performance, one performer directs the timbre of each 'drum', while the other modulates the underlying parameters of the rhythmic system. Functioning as a sculptural system as well as a sonic one, TRANSIENT FIELD blurs the boundary between static objects and movable auditory logic.
